Review – Cabernet Franc 2018

The Banghoek is an excellent spot for Cabernet Franc, and this suitability shines through in the 2018 vintage. The block has now been removed, but it had grown exceptionally well at the foot of Rondekop, producing spectacular fruit.

The wine shows a vibrant ruby colour in the glass. Vivid aromas of mustard seed, cayenne pepper and mulberries create a unique nose. The palate follows through with finesse, including layers of rosemary, macerated cherries and the slightest hint of woodsmoke.

Luscious acidity and well-balanced tannins round off this distinctive, beautiful wine. Enjoy now or age this wine to perfection over the next 7-10 years. Our Cabernet Franc has a proven track record of exceptional ageing. The Maiden Vintage (2007 Les Quatre Enfants) is 14 years young and still showing remarkable freshness and vibrance, with a balance between primary aromas (of lavender, rosemary and violet) and tertiary ones (forest bed, leather and cedar wood). In our Library Collection, there is limited availability of the 2007, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 in addition to the current 2018 vintage.
